How ICF Material Calculations Work

Calculating ICF materials requires knowing your wall area, opening sizes, and the number of corners. Here's the basic approach:

Gross Wall Area = Perimeter × Wall Height × Stories

Openings Area = (Avg Window Size × # Windows) + (Avg Door Size × # Doors)

Net Wall Area = Gross Wall Area - Openings Area

Blocks Needed = Net Wall Area ÷ 6 sq ft per block × 1.05 (waste factor)

Standard Nudura blocks cover 6 square feet each (48" × 18"). We recommend adding 5-10% for cuts and waste. Corner blocks are calculated based on the number of corners and wall height.
